What we do

Our services

Residential and small commercial fencing, supplied and installed by the same crew that quotes the job.

Colorbond fencing

Supply and install in the full BlueScope Colorbond® colour range — standard sheet, slat or lattice tops, in heights from 1.5m to 2.4m. Neat both sides, so it looks right for you and the neighbours.

Timber paling fencing

Treated pine paling fences with capped or exposed posts, built on galvanised or timber rails. Standard 1.8m boundary fences, lapped or butted, plus feature and capped-and-moulded finishes.

Gates

Steel-framed pedestrian and double gates clad in Colorbond or timber, hung on heavy-duty hinges with drop bolts and lockable latches. Sliding gates and wider driveway openings to suit.

Pool fencing

Frameless and semi-frameless glass pool barriers, and powder-coated aluminium pool fencing, built to the Victorian barrier standard. Includes self-closing, self-latching compliant gates and the correct non-climbable zones.

Fence repairs & panel replacement

Storm damage, leaning posts, rusted plinths or a single damaged panel — we match the existing profile and colour where we can, rather than replacing the whole run.

Retaining walls with fencing

Concrete sleeper and treated timber retaining walls with the fence built directly above — the usual fix for sloping blocks and split levels in the newer Wyndham and Melton estates.

Why choose us

The details that decide how long a fence lasts

Tarneit Fencing is a local, owner-operated business. The person who quotes your job is the person who builds it — so nothing gets lost between the sales visit and the install.

  • Genuine BlueScope Colorbond®

We use real Colorbond steel — not look-alike imported sheeting — so the colour and warranty hold up in the Victorian sun.

  • Posts set in concrete

Every post is dug to depth and concreted, not rammed into dirt. It's the single biggest reason a fence stays straight through a Wyndham wind.

  • Full site clean-up

Old fencing, offcuts, concrete spoil and packaging all leave with us. You come home to a finished fence, not a pile of rubbish.

  • Local & reliable

Based in Tarneit, working across Wyndham and Melton. You get a start date we actually keep and a phone number that answers.

  • Transparent quoting

A written, itemised quote before we start — materials, heights, gates, removal and rubbish included. The quoted price is the price you pay.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

The things homeowners ask us most often before booking a fence.

How much does Colorbond fencing cost in Tarneit?

As a guide, $90–$180 per linear metre for Colorbond and $75–$130 per metre for treated pine paling, supplied and installed — depending on height, terrain and access. Removing an old fence is quoted separately. We price it properly after an on-site measure, and the written quote is the final price.

Are quotes really free?

Yes. The on-site measure and the written quote are free, with no call-out fee anywhere in our service area, and no obligation to go ahead.

Which suburbs do you cover?

Tarneit, Truganina, Wyndham Vale, Hoppers Crossing, Werribee, Manor Lakes, Williams Landing, Point Cook, Melton, Melton South, Caroline Springs, Burnside, Hillside, Rockbank, Fraser Rise, Plumpton and Mount Cottrell. If you're just outside that list, call us anyway — we're often working nearby.

Who pays for a fence on a shared boundary?

Under the Victorian Fences Act 1968, neighbours generally share the cost of a sufficient dividing fence equally. If you want something above that standard — extra height, a premium colour, a feature top — you usually cover the difference. We can lay the quote out so the split is easy to show your neighbour. For a dispute, Dispute Settlement Centre of Victoria is the free first stop.

Does pool fencing have to meet a standard?

Yes, and it's strictly enforced in Victoria. Pools and spas that can hold more than 30cm of water must be registered with your council, and the barrier has to be inspected and a certificate of barrier compliance lodged every four years. Which version of the Australian Standard applies depends on when the pool was built. We build to the standard for your pool's date — correct gap and height dimensions, non-climbable zones, and self-closing, self-latching gates — so it passes inspection. As a guide, frameless glass runs around $250 per metre. Your council is the final authority on compliance for your property.

How long does installation take?

Most residential runs are done in one to three days. Posts go in and are concreted first and left to set, then the rails and sheets or palings go on. Bigger jobs and retaining walls take longer — we'll give you a realistic window with the quote.

Do you remove the old fence?

Yes. Removal and disposal of the old fence is itemised in the quote so you can see exactly what it costs. All of it — old palings, sheets, posts, concrete spoil and packaging — leaves with us.

Can you build on a sloping block?

Yes. We either step the fence down the slope in even drops, or build a concrete sleeper retaining wall and run the fence above it. On the newer Wyndham and Melton estates, where blocks are often cut and filled, the retaining option is the usual answer.

Trusted fencing contractors in Tarneit, Victoria

Local to Melbourne's west

Tarneit and the suburbs around it have gone up fast. Most of what we work on is newer estate housing — standard block widths, cut-and-fill sites, and boundaries that all need doing at roughly the same time as neighbours move in. Being based here means we know which streets are still on builder's fencing, where the ground turns to clay, and how exposed the newer estates are to the westerly wind.

Materials that suit the conditions

Genuine BlueScope Colorbond® steel is the default for boundary fencing out here: it handles the sun, doesn't need painting, and comes in the colour range most estate covenants ask for. Treated pine paling is the cheaper option and still the right call for plenty of backyards. For anything holding back soil, we use concrete sleepers between galvanised posts rather than timber sleepers that will rot out in a decade.

The jobs we do most

Standard 1.8m Colorbond boundary fences on new builds. Replacing tired timber paling that's twisted or rotted at the base. Adding a steel-framed gate to a side passage. Matching a single damaged panel after a storm. Retaining walls with fencing above on blocks that step down. Most of these are one to three day jobs for a two-person crew.

Booking a fence

Call or send the quote form with your suburb and an idea of how many metres you need. We'll come out, measure, check the levels and the access, and put a written price in front of you — usually within 48 hours. There's no call-out fee for the visit and no obligation once you have the quote. If you go ahead, we lock in a start date and keep it.
